Usage Instructions:

Hand Baking (Makes 1 Large Loaf):
– 500g Hovis Strong White Bread Flour
– 25g Butter
– 1 1/4 Tsp Salt
– 1 Hovis Fast Action Bread Yeast Sachet
– 275ml Warm Water
– 2 Tsp Sugar (optional)

1. Mix flour, (optional sugar), and salt in a large bowl. Rub in butter, then stir in yeast.
2. Add water, mixing into a soft dough by hand.
3. Knead for 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes using a dough hook in an electric mixer. Cover dough with a damp tea towel and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
4. Shape dough and place in a greased tin or on an oven tray. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
5. Bake in a preheated oven at 230°C (210°C Fan, Gas Mark 8) for 30-35 minutes. Cool on a rack.

For a Soft Crust:
– Dust with flour before baking and wrap in a clean, dry tea towel once baked.

For a Golden Crust:
– Beat 1 egg with a little milk and brush evenly before baking.

Bread Machine:
– Follow your manufacturer’s guidelines and add ingredients in the order listed.

Storage:
For best results, store in a cool, dry place. Use sachet within 48 hours once opened. For best before date, see the back of the pack.
